Document 240 - Amendments to Appendices I and II to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals - communication document

The document seeks the Chamber of Deputies’ approval to ratify the amendments to Annexes I and II of the Bonn Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals, adopted in March 2026 in Brazil. The amendments consist mainly of the new inclusion of 40 taxa among protected species and taxonomic and nomenclatural adjustments to the lists. The government states that both the Czech and EU legal frameworks already cover these obligations, so no amendments to Czech laws are necessary, nor are any impacts on the budget, public administration, or businesses expected. Since the amendments were scheduled to take effect on June 27, 2026, the Czech Republic initially entered a reservation for procedural reasons, which it is to withdraw upon ratification.
